A man wanted on felony and misdemeanor warrants was arrested in Burien last week after deputies and a K9 team tracked him down following an attempted escape.
According to a social media post by the Burien Police Department, a deputy recognized the suspect during a business contact at a local gas station.
Police said the man was wanted on a felony warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle and a misdemeanor DUI warrant.
When the deputy attempted to take the man into custody, the suspect fled.
Police said no vehicle pursuit was initiated because of hazardous conditions.
Later that night, with the assistance of other deputies and a K9 unit, a track was conducted. The department said K9 Axil and his handler successfully located the suspect, who was then taken into custody.
The man was booked on the outstanding warrants, along with additional local charges.
“Thank you, Deputies and K9 Axil, for keeping us safe,” police said in a public statement announcing the arrest.
