The Sumner Spartans blanked Burien’s Kennedy Catholic Lancers 28-0 on Friday night, Sept. 12, in a non-conference high school football game on their home field.

Sumner’s defense kept the Lancers scoreless throughout the contest, marking one of the toughest outings for Kennedy Catholic’s 2025 football season.

Sumner broke the game open in the second quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points to take control on the way to a 28-0 shutout. The Spartans added another touchdown in the third quarter while keeping the Lancers off the scoreboard in all four quarters, sealing the decisive non-conference victory.

The shutout highlights a comeback for the 1-1 Spartans, who lost their first game 31-28 to Lake Stevens.

Kennedy Catholic, with an 0-2 record, will look to regroup before heading into their next matchup against Tahoma on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Highline Memorial Stadium.
