The League of Women Voters of South King County will host two public candidate forums at the Burien Library this fall, giving residents a chance to hear directly from local candidates ahead of the Nov. 4 General Election.
The two forums are:
- Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. will feature candidates for the Highline Public Schools Board of Directors in the library’s second-floor meeting room. The event is co-sponsored by the Highline Special Needs PTA and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
- Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. will highlight Burien City Council candidates in the same location. That event is co-sponsored by AAUW.
Both forums will be moderated and time-kept by League of Women Voters of South King County volunteers.
According to the League’s website, the League of Women Voters of Seattle-King County is a nonprofit, nonpartisan political organization that works to encourage informed and active participation in government, increase understanding of major public policy issues and influence public policy through education and advocacy.
The League was formed one year after the national League of Women Voters was established in 1920 following the women’s suffrage movement.
