Halloween-themed afternoon tea, autumn classes and events, and new craft cocktails liven up Fall at Marina Mercantile.
The weather may still seem like summer, but the evening light and back-at-school rituals all say “It’s Fall, baby. Time to settle in.” And nobody celebrates Fall with more enthusiasm than Brenda and the crew at Marina Mercantile.
“We’ve always loved Halloween at our house, and all of the other autumn rituals,” she says. “So, we do it up at the Merc, too!”

So far this year, Brenda and team have queued up an entire slate of classes, Afternoon Tea specials, and more. Fall’s Watercolor Paint & Sip kicks it all off on Friday, September 19, and Fall Cookie Classes start with Scarecrow and Pumpkin (September 25) then switch to Halloween characters (October 23). In between, there’s Halloween Cupcakes on 10/18, and another of the Merc’s “Afternoon Tea and Tarot” on October 15.
Oh – and there will be a September version of MINGO, too, on September 24!
Of course, EVERY change of season requires something new and fun for Afternoon Tea. This October brings back last year’s hit “Witches Tea,” a delightfully spooky version of the ritual with themed home-made treats and costumes definitely encouraged – available all of October by reservation. And on October 25, from 3:30 to 6 PM, the Merc will host a “Witches Soirée” Afternoon Tea Event, featuring a Witchy Tea Buffet, “Pick Your Potion” bar, and a host of spooky activities.

What better to accompany the change of seasons than a new cocktail menu, put together by the Merc’s own Katy Harrison. Katy’s devotion to craft cocktails comes with a double dose of creativity and humor. Her menu includes delights like the Tequila Mockingbird, The Old Man(tini) & The Sea, Of Mice & Men (wCoffee … oh, and Mezcal), and The Picture of Dorian Gray, which she describes as “a daquiri with a hint of tea and creepy reflections of yourself.”
And if none of these suits your fancy, Katy can whip up all the old favorites, including the Merc’s much-loved Old Fashioned. Even better – tell her what you like and let her create something brand new just for you.
The Merc has now completed transforming its space, too, opening it up fully for restaurant service, private events, and Afternoon Tea. They still have their wine and tinned fish, of course, and a very specially-selected collection of gifts and sweets now as you walk in.
Stop in anytime for lunch, dinner, or Sunday Brunch without a reservation, or reserve your class, Afternoon Tea, or private event at marinamercantile.com.
