Weekend Safari, theater simple

Theater Simple will bring its interactive performance “Caravan Chronicles: Urban Reunion” to south King County this weekend, offering free outdoor shows in Burien and Kent.

The Burien show will take place this Sunday, Sept. 28, 2025, starting at 2 p.m. at Lake Burien School Memorial Park (map below).

The production marks the 20th anniversary of “Caravan Chronicles,” a traveling theater experience staged in and around a 1965 Airstream Safari trailer.

The show transforms audience members into part of an unconventional family reunion built on shared stories, spontaneous haiku and humor.

Performances are scheduled for:

  • Saturday, Sept. 27, 2 p.m.: Morrill Meadows Park, 10600 SE 248th St. in Kent
  • Sunday, Sept. 28, 2 p.m.: Lake Burien School Park, 1620 SW 149th St. in Burien.

Admission is FREE.

Theater Simple describes the event as both a public art experience and a community celebration of connection.

Families are encouraged to attend, and organizers suggest bringing boots if the weather is wet.
