Hello Neighbors,
My name is Sue-Ann Hohimer, and I’m running for the Highline School Board.
For over 25 years, I’ve dedicated my career to serving children, youth, and families—as an educator, advocate, fundraiser, and community leader. My work has focused on strengthening communities through better healthcare facilities, youth sports, after-school and summer programs. I’ve also served on several nonprofit boards, including as Vice President of a private school system, where I helped develop a governance model and tuition options that expanded access to quality education for families of all backgrounds.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Education and a Master’s in Teaching Language Arts from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, where I began my career as a public elementary teacher.
As a two-term Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Normandy Park, I helped guide our city through challenges like COVID-19 while maintaining financial stability and strengthening collaboration among residents and regional partners. These experiences taught me the importance of transparency, responsible budgeting, and focusing on community assets—especially our schools.
Highline’s beautifully rebuilt schools are something to celebrate, but what happens inside them matters most. I believe in high academic standards, innovative programs, safe learning environments, and strong teacher support. I’ll champion science-based literacy instruction, early reading development, and creative school programs that help every student thrive.
Above all, I’ll bring energy, optimism, and integrity to the board—working to raise academic expectations, improve transparency, and rebuild trust between the district and our community.
I’m honored to run alongside Katie Kresly and Ken Kemp, who share this vision for fresh leadership and stronger schools.
