The Highline Heritage Museum in Burien received two awards this week from the Association of King County Historical Organizations (AKCHO), recognizing its contributions to preserving and sharing local history.
At an Oct. 28 ceremony, the museum received the 2024 Virginia Marie Folkins Award (“for an historical publication that shows outstanding original research“). for its “Our Highline Voices” radio show, and the 2025 Board Award for its Heritage Partnership Agreement. The partnership includes the cities of Burien, Normandy Park, and SeaTac, along with the Highline School District, Highline College, and the Port of Seattle.
“We’re grateful for the collaboration that keeps local history and heritage alive,” museum officials said. We also want to acknowledge our funding agencies; we can’t do it without your support!”
The Highline Heritage Museum serves Burien, SeaTac, Normandy Park, White Center, and the greater Highline area, offering exhibits, programs, and partnerships that highlight community history and diverse voices.
