A 26-year-old man arrested in a King County Sheriff’s Office investigation of a recent, fatal shooting in SeaTac remains in jail on $2 million bail after a first appearance hearing Tuesday, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
The court found probable cause to support arrest for second degree murder in the Nov. 24 killing of 35-year-old Adam Joseph Lovejoy. Prosecutors requested $2 million bail and the court set that amount after hearing from both sides, the office said.
As we previously reported, the shooting occurred outdoors on Monday night, Nov. 24, 2025 near 3200 South 198th Street in SeaTac, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Lovejoy died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Deputies responded to a reported shooting at the location at approximately 11:44 p.m. A male caller told dispatchers “this guy pulled a gun on me so I shot him” and “I killed the guy, he’s dead,” according to the probable cause statement prepared by the Sheriff’s Office. The suspect also reported that he had been shot in the foot. He was transported for treatment before being interviewed by detectives.
Investigators located Lovejoy deceased in a driveway at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office reported multiple gunshot wounds, with injuries to the neck, chest, flank, hip, knee and scalp, and noted close range firing on multiple wounds. One round severed the cervical spine and another severed the subclavian artery, according to the report.
According to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Tuesday’s first appearance hearing is not the same as a charging decision, which requires a higher burden of proof. The office said prosecutors are awaiting a felony case referral from Sheriff’s Office investigators and expect to receive it this week. The suspect remained in jail Wednesday on the bail amount set by the court.
The Sheriff’s Office probable cause document describes an ongoing dispute preceding the shooting and states that investigators later obtained video and social media messages that they say showed intent to confront and harm the victim. The document alleges that the suspect fired multiple rounds, including additional shots after Lovejoy was already on the ground.
Consistent with policy, South King Media does not identify suspects unless prosecutors file charges.
Defendants are innocent until proven guilty in court.
I pray for justice for Adam and his family.
Adam was a kind person, a loving and devoted father to his 3 young children, a soccer coach, an electrician by trade. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. What a senseless act of violence by a man with a gun and a grudge against his ex girlfriend. Adam got stuck in the middle and lost his life. We are truly devastated by this loss.
That killer is clearly insane and I hope never sees the light of day again… But if Adam Lovejoy was such a devoted father, what was he doing out on a date instead of home with his wife and children??
He in NO way deserved what happened to him, but IF he had been home taking care of his family, he wouldn’t have found himself in the middle of that psycho drama and would still be alive now
