Residents of Burien Town Square (BTS) donated $4,010 to support King County Fire District No. 2’s 2025 Holiday Outreach program, funding food and gifts for households in need across the community, organizers said.
The donation – presented to firefighters on Thursday, Dec. 17 by BTS residents Bunny Critch, Peggy Cummings, David Gould and Mike Thorsen – will help provide pantry boxes, holiday meals and toys for families, with food sourced from local retailers and toys donated by TriMed Ambulance.

“What a blessing this is for the people in the community because it helps the families,” Fire Chief Jason Gay told The B-Town Blog, “and we also thank Captain Stoess for organizing it.”
Local families will receive food directly from the Burien Fred Meyer for their holiday meal, along with pantry supplies equivalent to four boxes of food. Additional items come from Grocery Outlet and include food as well as paper towels and toilet paper.
“We’re putting food in their pantry along with a holiday meal,” Gay said.
Families can choose whether they want ham or turkey for their holiday meal. Families that do not eat meat can receive extra rice instead.
“Our entire Holiday Outreach program, as far as the food campaign goes, is all purchased through donations,” Stoess said. “The toys are 100% donated to us by TriMed Ambulance, and the goal is to provide age appropriate items for children and family activities such as board games.”
Firefighters thanked Burien Town Square residents for their continued support, noting the donation reflects multiple years of giving to the holiday outreach program.
“We really appreciate the help.”
