Emergency crews responded to a single vehicle rollover crash in the 15800 block of Maplewild Ave SW in Burien early Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, temporarily blocking traffic in both directions.
According to dispatch information, units were sent to the scene at about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The vehicle involved crashed and rolled over, with possible injuries reported to the driver.
Dispatch notes indicated the driver was reported to be out of the vehicle when crews arrived.
“The single occupant/driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital to treat minor laceration injuries from broken glass during the accident,” Ray Desmarais, Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal for King County Fire District #2 told The B-Town Blog. “The patient was released later that morning by hospital staff.”
Desmarais said that comments the driver said on scene indicated they’d “looked down at their phone briefly and that was enough to lead to the accident.”
Both directions of Maplewild were blocked while fire and medical units worked at the scene.
Seattle City Light sent a crew to repair a downed power line, and the scene was cleared just after 7 a.m.
