Burien and SeaTac Police are accepting applications for their Community Police Academy, which will run Thursday evenings from Mar. 19 to April 23, 2026, according to a program flyer.

The academy is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will be held over six sessions through the SeaTac and Burien Police departments.

Applicants must be 18 or older, live or work in Burien or SeaTac, and be able to commit to all sessions, according to the flyer.

Participants will learn about a wide range of topics, including:

  • History of the department
  • Hiring and recruitment
  • Early intervention and crime prevention
  • Overview of major crimes, street crimes, and gangs
  • Patrol procedures
  • Use of force
  • K-9 unit
  • Major accident response and reconstruction
  • Firearms training and bomb disposal
  • Overview of police explorer program

Participants must have no felony convictions and must pass a criminal history background check.

The application deadline is Mar. 6, 2026.
