Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone has been elected 2026 president of the Sound Cities Association (SCA), the regional organization representing 38 King County cities.
The SCA represents more than 1.3 million residents and provides a regional voice for cities with populations under 250,000, according to the association.
SCA member cities include several in south King County, including Burien, Renton, Kent, Des Moines, Auburn, SeaTac, Normandy Park and Tukwila.
“Mayor Pavone is a consistent, strong, and steady voice for regional collaboration and partnership,” said Robert Feldstein, executive director of SCA. “I’m very excited to collaborate with him as we continue moving forward on behalf of the region and all SCA cities.”
Pavone was elected president by the SCA Board of Directors, which is composed of King County mayors and councilmembers elected by their peers, along with one city manager or administrator, to oversee the 38 city association.
“I’m honored and grateful for the confidence my colleagues have placed in me by electing me president of SCA,” Pavone said. “In the coming year, I look forward to working with other members of the Board, SCA staff and city leaders to continue using the powerful collective voice of SCA to advance policies and initiatives that strengthen communities throughout our region.”
Pavone was first elected to the Renton City Council in 2013 and elected mayor in 2019. Now serving his second term, he has focused on public safety, affordable housing, transportation improvements and economic vitality in Renton, according to SCA.
Founded in the 1970s, SCA was created to help King County cities act locally and partner regionally through advocacy, education, leadership and networking. The association appoints city representatives to regional boards and committees and supports local elected officials with policy resources, training and collaboration on shared priorities.
