Residents in Burien and across South King County are invited to participate in upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training designed to help people prepare for disasters and assist their communities during emergencies.
According to the City of Burien, the training will be offered by the Greater Federal Way Community Emergency Response Team on Wednesday evenings beginning April 15.
The program teaches disaster preparedness skills that help participants protect themselves, their families and their neighbors, while also learning how to support first responders during emergencies.
CERT training focuses on equipping community members with practical skills and an organizational structure to respond to immediate needs following a disaster, particularly in situations where professional responders may be delayed.
The City of Burien said the training is open to everyone, including local residents interested in strengthening community resilience and readiness.
