Interurban Avenue South has fully reopened in Tukwila following a landslide that forced a temporary closure of the roadway late Friday night, according to the City of Tukwila.

City officials said the slide occurred March 20 and directly impacted the southbound lanes. As a precaution and to allow emergency crews space to respond, the road was closed in both directions between Fort Dent Way and the I-405 on-ramp and South 149th Street.

Tukwila Police, Puget Sound Fire and Tukwila Public Works crews responded to the scene. No injuries were reported, and officials said there was no damage to nearby private property.

The landslide originated from a hillside adjacent to Interurban Avenue South, the city said.

Crews monitored conditions overnight and assisted drivers with detours. Cleanup operations began after a geotechnical engineer arrived on scene Saturday morning to assess slope stability.

The roadway was reopened later Saturday afternoon once it was deemed safe for travel.

“Thank you for your patience as crews worked to protect public safety and reopen the road as quickly as possible,” officials said.
