Fire crews responded to a vehicle that crashed into an apartment building in Burien early Monday morning, April 20, where the driver had left the scene before responders arrived.

The vehicle crashed into the Genesis Apartments, located at 1120 SW 126th Street (map below).

Police said the driver fled the scene, and the incident is being investigated as a hit and run.

According to King County Fire District #2 Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal Ray Desmarais, crews were dispatched around 3 a.m. to the incident, where they found damage to the building but no driver present.

Officials said all occupants inside the apartment were able to get out safely and were not injured.

Desmarais said the extent of the damage prompted notification to the City of Burien building department, which was asked to assess the structure’s condition.

No additional information about the cause of the crash, driver or potential injuries was immediately available.
