Highline Musical Theatre has named Joseph Barredo the recipient of its 2026 Gerry Gilbert Leadership Award, according to the theater organization.

The award is presented each year to a cast member who demonstrates outstanding leadership during Highline Musical Theatre’s MainStage production.

Named for former HMT board President Gerry Gilbert, the award recognizes a cast member who leads by example, inspires and motivates others, promotes teamwork and collaboration, and makes a meaningful impact on the theater community, according to Highline Musical Theatre. Gilbert was a longtime Hi-Liners actor, volunteer and community leader who served the youth musical theater program for many years, including in multiple board roles and as president.

Barredo, 18-years-old, was recognized for his work during “Little Shop of Horrors,” where he stars as protagonist Seymour Krelborn. HMT said his dedication, positive attitude and willingness to support others made a lasting impact on the cast and production.

Previous recipients include Richard Glaman, Luciana Colello, and Olivia Hendricks.

Congrats Joseph!
