A longtime fixture in downtown Burien, Westside Jewelers announced that it will close at the end of December after 34 years. The company said a farewell sale is in progress through Dec. 23.
The business was founded in 1990 by owner Rick Sandell and became a long standing retail presence in Burien, known for custom engagement rings and personalized service. Over its more than three decades in business, the shop developed a loyal customer base and was regarded as a trusted local destination for fine jewelry in the city’s commercial core.
The business is reportedly closing due to the retirement of its owners, marking the end of a decades long independent retail operation in downtown Burien.
The announcement invited customers to visit the store one last time, calling it “one last opportunity to visit your favorite jeweler.” They described the sale as a “once-in-a-lifetime farewell event, featuring our beautiful custom jewelry at special farewell prices.”
The business also encouraged shoppers to take home a timeless treasure or a gift during the event.
“Come celebrate 34 years of craftsmanship, creativity, and community with us. We can’t wait to see you one more time,” the announcement said.
Westside Jewelers has operated in Burien at 147 SW 152nd Street for more than three decades and promoted the farewell sale as a way to celebrate its history in the local community before closing its doors.
