Women in South King County are invited to step onto the field of leadership at a free, interactive workshop designed to empower more women to take active roles in youth sports.

The event will be held Sunday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Highline Performing Arts Center (map below) in Burien.

It includes free training by the Positive Coaching Alliance, on-site childcare, and opportunities to connect with others interested in making a difference.

“No experience is necessary,” organizers said. “Just bring your passion. Let’s build a more equipable future in youth sports – together.”

The event is hosted by the City of Burien’s Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PaRCS) Department, which promotes physical activity, cultural enrichment and inclusive community engagement.

Attendees will take part in hands-on learning experiences in a supportive environment designed to foster leadership, build confidence, and create a more equitable future in youth sports.

Organizers say the goal is to encourage more women to take on coaching, mentoring and advocacy roles in local programs where female representation is often limited.
