A man was arrested in Burien after deputies responded to reports that he was threatening staff members with a knife, according to the Burien Police Department.

Deputies were dispatched to a disturbance call after witnesses reported that a man was swinging a knife and making threats to kill staff members.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect was inside a vehicle and initially refused commands to exit, police said.

According to police, deputies approached the vehicle and ultimately had to take the suspect into custody using physical control techniques.

The man was detained without further incident, and deputies recovered the knife at the scene.

Police said the suspect was transported to jail and the case has been forwarded to the Burien Prosecutor’s Office for charging review.

“Situations like this highlight the importance of a quick response and coordinated teamwork to protect community safety,” police said in a statement. “If you see suspicious behavior or threatening behavior, please report it immediately.”

Police did not disclose the location of the incident or when it took place.
