Shortly after 4 a.m. Monday morning, Aug. 17, 2020, Bank of America security called Burien Police to report that someone was attempting to break into their ATM at 230 SW 152nd Street (map below).

Officers arrived within three minutes of being dispatched, and found 2 male suspects using crow bars and a saw in an attempt to break into the ATM.

Upon seeing the officers, the suspects jumped in their car and fled the scene.

Officers engaged in a pursuit, which lead east out of the city on the SR 518 freeway.

Police attempted to disable the vehicle using spike strips at the SR 167 interchange, but the suspects avoided the spikes in the roadway.

The suspect driver then made a U-turn and started driving the wrong way on the interchange, colliding with two Burien Police Officers.

Both suspects were taken into custody without injury.

One officer suffered a leg injury in the collision and is being evaluated.

Both suspects will be booked into King County Jail.
