A car went airborne and crashed through two homes in Burien on Sunday afternoon, May 26, 2025, after the driver failed to stop at an intersection, according to Burien Police/King County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 2:33 p.m. in the 2400 block of South 121st Street (map below), resulting in a large, multi-agency response from the North Highline Fire Department and others.
Authorities say a mid-sized sedan traveling eastbound on South 120th Street did not stop at the intersection with Military Road South.
Police said the vehicle struck a lane divider at such speed that it launched into the air, crashing through the side of one home and continuing into a second house before coming to a stop.
Despite the dramatic impact, no injuries were reported among pedestrians or the occupants of either home.
The driver — the sole occupant of the vehicle — sustained minor injuries and has been detained as the investigation continues.
Authorities said the scene remains active, and there are traffic and transit disruptions in the area.
Police noted that the information is preliminary and subject to change as the investigation develops.
Officials say the investigation and cleanup are expected to continue for several hours.
