A driver was arrested for driving under the influence in Burien after a deputy observed the vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign and swerving into an oncoming lane, according to the Burien Police Department.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, Mar. 25, when a deputy witnessed the driver creating a hazardous situation for other motorists.

A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver admitted to consuming alcohol, police said. The driver participated in field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment.

The driver was taken into custody and transported to a precinct for further evaluation, where a breath sample measured 0.192, more than twice the legal limit, according to police.

The driver was subsequently booked into jail.

“Our deputies remain committed to keeping our roads safe,” police said in a statement. “If you observe dangerous driving, please report it when it is safe to do so.”
