Incumbent Joe Van has come back to take a slim lead over challenger Katie Kresly in the Highline School Board Director District 3 race after King County Elections released a fifth round of results on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025.
Van has 13,891 votes, or 50.47 percent, to Kresly’s 13,504 votes, or 49.06 percent – a margin of 387 votes.
On Friday, Nov. 7, Kresly was ahead by 75 votes.
In the Director District No. 2 race, Angelica M. Alvarez maintained her lead over Sue-Ann Hohimer in the latest ballot count released by King County Elections. Alvarez leads by 1,872 votes, with 14,563 votes/53.12 percent, while Hohimer trails with 12,691 votes/46.29 percent.
In the Highline School District, 30,855 ballots/38.97% have been counted so far.
Legislative District 33 Race
In the 33rd Legislative District race, Edwin Obras widened his lead over Kevin Schilling in Monday’s fifth round of results. Obras now has 14,441 votes, or 51.83 percent, while Schilling has 12,920 votes, or 46.37 percent.
The updated totals extend Obras’ advantage by more than 300 votes since Friday, Nov. 7, when he led 14,079 to 12,625, or 51.49 percent to 46.17 percent.
Schilling conceded the race on Saturday, Nov. 8.
Seattle Mayor
For the first time, challenger Katie Wilson has pulled ahead of incumbent Bruce Harrell in the race for Seattle mayor. Wilson now leads with 133,469 votes, or 49.83 percent, while Harrell trails by just 91 votes, at 133,378 votes, or 49.79 percent – a lead of 0.04 percent.
Of the city’s 505,393 registered voters, 272,041 ballots have been counted, representing a 53.83 percent turnout.
In King County and across Washington state, an automatic recount is triggered when the margin between the top two candidates is less than 2,000 votes and also less than 0.5% of the total votes cast for those candidates.
Certification is scheduled for Nov. 25.
