St. Francis of Assisi to host salmon education event for children on Sunday, May 18

May 18 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

St. Francis of Assisi’s Life, Peace, and Justice Committee will host a free, family-friendly event on Sunday, May 18, 2025, to teach children about the salmon lifecycle and the importance of protecting local waterways.

The event, featuring educators from the Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery, will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the lawn outside the kindergarten space at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Burien (map below).

The program is designed for elementary-aged students and will explore how human actions impact salmon habitats and the broader environment.

“This theme connects April Earth Day efforts along with our call to care for all creation,” organizers said.

The event is free and open to the public, with easy parking available.
