Area residents will have an opportunity to safely recycle old paint for free on Saturday, Sept. 27, as the City of Tukwila partners with GreenSheen Paint for a community collection event.
The recycling event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tukwila Community Center (map below).
Organizers said the event will accept unlimited amounts of latex paint, oil-based paint, stains, shellacs, lacquers, sealers, varnishes, urethanes, and textured coatings, provided they are in containers of five gallons or smaller.
“This is a convenient and eco-friendly way for people to clear out unused paint and keep it out of the waste stream,” the City of Tukwila said in a statement promoting the event.
Certain items will not be accepted, including aerosol spray paint, paint thinner, solvents, cleaning agents, drywall mud, roof patch, adhesives, and other hazardous waste materials.
The event is free and open to residents, with no pre-registration required.
More information is available through the City of Tukwila and GreenSheen Paint’s event page here.
