The Highline Heritage Museum will hold its annual La Posada celebration from 5–8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, offering a community centered event with food, music and cultural activities, the museum announced.
The event will feature hot food, live performances, live music, piñatas, children’s craft activities, games and a procession.
La Posada is described by the museum as a celebration of connection, culture and caring for the community. It is a traditional Latin American celebration that commemorates the journey of Mary and Joseph seeking shelter before the birth of Jesus. The event typically includes a community procession, music, food and activities that highlight themes of hospitality, kindness and mutual support.
Event partners include For The Kids, Puget Sound Skills Center, Highline High School, Latino Northwest Communications, Latino Civic Alliance, We Are Latino Women, Northwest Orchestra, Alaska Airlines, Orange Bakery, Start Zone Highline College, Burke Museum, Voice Tacoma Universal, Southwest Youth and Family Services, Molina Healthcare and the King County Council.
