The Highline High School Booster Club is calling on the community to help stock its on-campus food pantry, which provides essential nutrition to student athletes who may otherwise go without adequate meals.
With nearly 70% of Highline students living in poverty, many rely on school-provided free or reduced-price meals, which may not be enough to fuel them through demanding athletic schedules.
Some students begin their day as early as 6 a.m. for weight training and don’t return home until 10:30 p.m. on game nights.
“At last night’s Booster Club meeting, our Athletic Director, Lori, let us know that the onsite food pantry was running low just as spring sports begin,” the club shared in a statement. “So…we need your help to get our student athletes through the end of the school year and stock our pantry shelves!”
How to Help
Community members can support student-athletes in the following ways:
- Make a Tax-Deductible Donation – Contributions to the Highline Schools Foundation’s Athletics General Fund help purchase fresh fruit and high-protein foods for students, especially for away-game nutrition bins. Donations can be made at bit.ly/HHSAthleticsGeneralFund.
- Donate Non-Perishable Items – Shelf-stable snacks and high-protein foods can be dropped off at Highline High School during school hours (M-Th, 8 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; F, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.) or at Pollock Insurance (654 S. 152nd Street, Burien, WA 98148) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays.
- Spread the Word – Sharing the Booster Club’s message with fellow alumni and community members helps raise awareness and support.
- Provide Connections for Bulk Donations – Those with access to discounted food supplies or potential donors are encouraged to reach out to the Booster Club.

The Booster Club emphasized that the on-campus food pantry is open to students with no questions asked, ensuring that all student-athletes have access to basic nutritional support throughout the season.
