Huckleberry Square – a longtime Burien dining staple and B-Town Blog Advertiser – has launched an initiative to help provide meals to the city’s most vulnerable residents through a revamped “Giving Wall” program in partnership with The More We Love (TMWL).

The setup allows customers to buy a meal, place the receipt on the Giving Wall, and have it picked up by TMWL volunteers to distribute to those in need. This can be done either in person at the restaurant, or online here (scroll to the bottom of the linked page).

TMWL, hired by the City of Burien, works to assist unhoused individuals, people recovering from addiction, and families escaping domestic violence by helping them access shelter, recovery programs, and safe spaces.

“At Huckleberry Square, we believe food has the power to connect – whether it’s a family brunch or two friends catching up,” the restaurant said in a statement. “Food also offers hope and builds trust for those in need, which is why we’ve partnered with The More We Love.”

The program enables community members to contribute directly to helping those struggling with hunger, reinforcing TMWL’s broader efforts to provide stability and support to Burien’s vulnerable populations.

“Huckleberry Square is providing an avenue for our great residents to contribute directly toward helping unhoused people obtain a meal while The More We Love works to connect them with necessary service (drug treatment, emergency/transitional housing, etc),” Burien City Manager Adolfo Bailon told The B-Town Blog. “This is the type of relationship that our city has worked toward for the past two years.”
