A juvenile was arrested early Friday morning, Feb. 13, after a Burien Police deputy stopped a vehicle that had been reported stolen just hours earlier, according to the Burien Police Department.
Police said that just after midnight, a deputy on routine patrol observed a Honda Civic traveling north in Burien without front or rear lights activated during hours of darkness and weaving within its lane of travel. The deputy initiated a traffic stop.
After the stop was called out, King County dispatchers advised the deputy that the Honda had been reported stolen a few hours earlier, police said. The driver pulled over and deputies conducted a high risk vehicle stop. The driver was taken into custody without incident.
Police said that after being advised of Miranda rights, the driver admitted to stealing the vehicle and acknowledged knowing it was stolen.
Deputies later determined that the driver was a reported missing juvenile and was not old enough to have a learner permit.
“The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center where they were declined due to their claim of smoking a ‘pound of fentanyl,'” police said.
The deputy then transported the juvenile to a hospital, where they were medically cleared.
After receiving medical clearance, the juvenile was successfully booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
