Burien’s Kennedy Catholic High School’s girls swim and dive team won its fourth state championship Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, capturing back-to-back titles with a decisive performance at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatics Center, according to the school.
The Lancers, who previously won championships in 2007, 2008 and 2024, secured the 2025 title with a dominant victory in the meet’s final event, the 400 free relay.
Kennedy Catholic entered the race needing a top-two finish and delivered a commanding win by more than four seconds.
Kennedy Catholic athletes won five state events, including the 200 medley relay, the 100 freestyle, the 100 backstroke, the 100 breaststroke and the 400 free relay.
State Championship Wins
- 200 Medley Relay 1st Place: Cecilia Pallotta, Lucy LaBella, Parker Marvin, Hailey Weiler (1:47.57)
- 100 Freestyle 1st Place: Hailey Weiler (50.31)
- 100 Backstroke 1st Place: Hailey Weiler (55.01)
- 100 Breaststroke 1st Place: Kaitlyn Vu (1:03.99)
- 400 Free Relay 1st Place: Hailey Weiler, Avery Stender, Kaitlyn Vu, Avery Jackson — (3:31.74)
With the team title on the line, the Lancers needed a top-two finish. They responded with a statement win, leaving no doubt.

President and Principal Matthew Mohs said the team’s performance represented the school’s values.
“This championship reflects the hard work, discipline, and unity of our student-athletes,” Mohs said. “Their performance at State embodies the spirit of excellence we strive for in the Lancer Community.”
Athletic Director Ryan Mummert credited the swimmers for their late-meet surge.
“Our swimmers delivered when it mattered most,” Mummert said. “Their competitive grit, from prelims to that decisive final relay, was remarkable.”
Kennedy Catholic also highlighted additional top finishes, including podium placements in the 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, plus a second-place result in the 200 free relay.
