As a local business owner, I see every day how much our community relies on Highline Public Schools to prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow. From career and technical education to internships and apprenticeships, our schools are giving students hands-on experiences that help them step confidently into the workforce.
The upcoming levy renewal on November 4 isn’t a new tax—it’s a continuation of local funding that we are already paying, and makes programs like these possible. Without it, Highline would face deep cuts to the programs that connect students to career paths and keep our future workforce strong. These are programs that introduce students to the trades, healthcare, technology, and more—fields that desperately need skilled workers.
When students graduate with real-world skills and confidence, our local businesses and economy benefit. We get to hire homegrown talent, young people who understand our community and are ready to contribute. But that’s only possible if we continue investing in their education.
This levy funds the staff who mentor students, the teachers who go above and beyond, and the programs that prepare them for success. It’s how we maintain safe schools, keep technology current, and ensure every student, regardless of background, has a fair shot at success.
Investing in education is investing in economic stability and growth. Let’s continue building a community where every student has the opportunity to succeed, and where businesses can rely on a pipeline of talented, prepared graduates. Vote YES for Highline’s levy renewal on November 4.
