A motorcyclist was killed late Saturday night, Sept. 13, 2025 in a three-vehicle collision on southbound State Route 509 near South Cloverdale Street, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
Troopers said the crash happened at 11:39 p.m. Saturday night as traffic approached the Myers Way South exit.
The driver of a Toyota sedan struck a motorcycle while changing lanes, pushing the motorcycle into another vehicle. The Toyota then hit the right barrier before veering back into traffic.
The motorcyclist was ejected and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet, troopers said.
The Toyota driver fled and has not been identified. The third vehicle came to rest in lane two. Its driver was not injured.
The road was closed for about four hours and 39 minutes while investigators documented the scene.
WSDOT reported all lanes of southbound SR 509 were blocked at South Cloverdale Street into early Sunday morning.
The cause remains under investigation.
