On Valentine’s Day, neighbors in Burien traded roses for leashes as they joined Burien CARES for its Valentine’s Stroll, walking alongside adoptable dogs in a show of community support and affection.

Residents of all ages – including both the two and four-legged variety – turned out for the event, offering treats, belly rubs and plenty of attention to dogs currently waiting for homes.

The stroll gave community members an opportunity to connect with shelter animals in a relaxed, outdoor setting.

“The event was a simple but meaningful reminder that love doesn’t have to be complicated — sometimes it’s just a wagging tail and a walk around the block,” organizers said.

The Valentine Stroll is one of the ways Burien CARES encourages engagement with adoptable pets while strengthening connections between the shelter and the broader community.
