REMINDER: The City of Burien is inviting residents to mark their calendars for Empty Bowls 2026, a community meal and fundraiser for local food banks set for this Friday, Jan. 30, at the Burien Community Center.

The event will take place in two time blocks:

  • 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.: Lunch
  • 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.: Dinner

The minimum donation is $20 for adults and $10 for children.

Participants who make a donation will be able to select a beautiful, handmade bowl created and donated by the generous, talented potters from Burien’s Moshier Community Art Center.

Donations also include a meal of soup, bread, a cookie and coffee, with food donated by local businesses.

“Join us for a meal and help fight hunger in our community,” organizers said.

All proceeds will benefit both the Highline & White Center Food Banks.

Empty Bowls events can be found around the country, raising money to combat hunger in our communities.

City officials said the event is open to the public and encouraged community members to follow the event page on Facebook or this website for updates and additional information.
