Pet owners will have a festive chance to support a local non-profit and capture holiday memories when “Pet Photos with Santa” returns to the Des Moines Theater on Sunday, Dec. 14.
The event, co sponsored by Marina Mercantile and A Dog’s Dream Des Moines, will raise funds for Des Moines Pregnancy Aid.
Organizers say the popular holiday photo session is returning after a strong turnout last year, which included dogs, cats, and people posing for professionally photographed portraits with Santa.
According to Marina Mercantile, this is the second year the event has been held in Des Moines, following previous runs in Georgetown and White Center.
Photos are taken by a professional photographer and edited before being emailed to participants in the days after the event.

Krampusnacht
Friday, Dec. 5, 7 – 10 p.m.
The venue will host a Krampusnacht celebration from 7–10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5, with themed drinks, a Krampus movie, and other surprises. Admission is FREE with reservation. The event will feature Krampus liqueur from Chuckanut Bay Distillery.
Swift Tea Party
Saturday, Dec. 13, 12 – 3 p.m.
A birthday themed “Swift Tea Party” on Saturday, Dec. 13 will feature a buffet of afternoon tea with savories, finger sandwiches, treats including Taylor’s favorite cookie, an art activity, and an endless pot of tea. The cost is $45 per person or $55 with a glass of prosecco.
Brunch with Santa
Sunday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Marina Mercantile will host a brunch with Santa from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. Admission is $20 for ages 11 and up and $15 for children ages 7 to 10. The business said 20 percent of proceeds will be donated to the Des Moines Food Bank.

Marina Mercantile is open Wednesday through Saturday for afternoon and evening service, welcoming guests from 1:30 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and 1:30 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The venue is also open on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for daytime visitors and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
