SAVE THE DATES: The Burien Film Festival will crawl, screen & chat its way through B-Town the weekend of Oct. 19 – 20.
And the entry deadline is fast approaching – Sept. 13, 2019!
This grassroots, local festival was founded on the ‘Hyperlocal Burien 5-7 Min. Short Film Contest,’ which celebrates Burien neighborhoods and businesses, giving filmmakers creative license to fill in the rest, with a couple of required elements that include:
- 5 – 7 minutes maximum
- At least one local business from the neighborhood must be highlighted.
- What is your Burien story? – creative documentary short film – What brought you here to Burien, or have you always lived here? How long have you lived here? Where did you come from, if not from Burien? What Burien Neighborhood do you live in? What makes Burien feel like home? Are you from a family that has lived in the United States for many generations, or are you new to the country?
- Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
Established in 2015, the Burien Film Festival is a three-day annual short film festival. The film festival was founded to celebrate local and international short film arts, and to shine a spotlight on Burien.
BFF hosts an International Film Crawl, with five venues featuring 40 of the best international short films curated by arts writer T.S. Flock, writer for, and co-founder of, Vanguard Seattle.
BFF runs ancillary programs throughout the year.
Organizers have received hundreds of international entries, and are hoping they will have a good Hyperlocal Burien showing!
ALSO: Two new judges have joined this year for the Hyperlocal Burien 5 – 7 minute Contest:
- Marco Collins, legendary radio personality
- Chris Craig, Economic Development Manager for the City of Burien.
(they expect one more on board soon…)
