EDITOR’S NOTE: South King Media Founder/Publisher Scott Schaefer serves on the Board of Directors for the Seattle Southside Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the $1,000 cash assistance for participating businesses, the Seattle Southside Chamber’s Southside Promise has announced a $500 ‘Shop Local’ incentive for potential customers.

To encourage local customers to shop and buy local, the Chamber in partnership with the City of Tukwila has also added a Southside Promise shop local contest as part of Shop Small Saturday, a nationwide campaign to encourage support of local businesses.

Every time you shop, buy, or dine local from Nov. 28 through Dec. 18, 2020, just take a photo of your receipt and send it to the Chamber at Promise@SeattleSouthsideChamber.com using the subject line “Shop Local Contest” to be entered to win $500 cash. Be sure to attach or insert the image of your receipt and include your first and last name in the body of the email. Each receipt is an additional chance to win!

This contest includes all types of purchases, including purchases in-store, to-go, and online. Additional chances to win will be added if the purchase was made at a Chamber Member location or at a business that has taken the Southside Promise. One purchase has the potential to add up to 3 chances to win!

“Now, more than ever, we need to support our local businesses,” said Andrea Reay President/CEO of the Seattle Southside Chamber. “We’ve always been proud to be a Neighborhood Champion with American Express for Shop Small Saturday. This year, we’re proud to extend that out past Saturday the 28th. Our businesses are making a promise to keep us as safe and healthy as possible, so we must also make a promise as a community to support them.”

Shopping local is now more important than ever with the new COVID-19 guidance for King County as of Nov. 15. Although we’re all being asked to limit social interaction to help combat the spread of the virus, we can still contribute to the economic health of our community. Local businesses need your help to remain resilient. This is why the Seattle Southside Chamber and City of Tukwila are proud to announce their Shop Local Contest to provide incentives to customers shopping, buying, and dining local during this year’s extended Shop Small Saturday and the 2020 holiday season.

Please visit the chamber’s Member Directory for a full list of members or the Southside Promise webpage for a full list of Southside Promise Takers. Looking for a specific gift, meal, or experience? Send us an email at Staff@SeattleSouthsideChamber.com and they’d be happy to direct you to the perfect local business.
