Strong communities rely on strong local news and information. That’s why South King Media and The B-Town Blog are proud to be a Founding Partner of Local News Day, happening today, Thursday, April 9, 2026.

This nationwide day of action is focused on reconnecting people with the trusted local news sources that keep communities informed, prepared and engaged. Across the country, news organizations, community leaders and readers are coming together to highlight the essential role local news plays in everyday life.

Here in South King County, we have been publishing award-winning, independent local news for 18 years, since December 2007.

Impressive Reach

For calendar year 2025, we published 1,471 stories – just over four per day – bringing our total to more than 26,000 local news stories since launching in December 2007.

Based on Google Analytics data for 2025, The B-Town Blog reached approximately 531,000 users, averaging over 44,000 users and 80,000 sessions per month, with total pageviews of 113,000 monthly. Traffic was driven primarily by organic search, direct visits and social media, reflecting strong ongoing demand for our timely, local news coverage.

On Facebook alone, our content generated 12.2 million views and 85,200 interactions, a +64.2 percent increase over the previous year, reflecting the continued demand for timely, relevant local news across South King County.

For nearly two decades, professional local reporters – actual area residents – have covered the local stories that matter most to our communities, including Burien, Des Moines, SeaTac, Tukwila, Kent, Auburn, White Center and Normandy Park.

From city council decisions and public safety updates to arts, events and local voices, our mission has always been simple: serve our neighbors with accurate, timely and relevant news, all while helping local nonprofits improve our communities via free or deeply underwritten marketing services.

Local News Day is a reminder that reliable local news does not happen by accident. It requires time, effort and community support. It helps residents make informed decisions, strengthens civic engagement and ensures accountability at every level.

If you value what we do, we kindly ask for your support today.

Whether you read, share our stories, advertise, subscribe or make a donation, every action helps us continue this work into the future.
