With salmon season approaching, local Volunteers are needed to help monitor the return of adult salmon to Miller and Walker Creeks.

Each year, community members help count and dissect salmon as part of Community Salmon Investigation’s (CSI) critical scientific research into water quality, pollution, and salmon health.

Volunteers play a vital role in tracking the number of salmon that successfully spawn and determining how many die due to polluted waters.

The data collected contributes to ongoing efforts to protect salmon populations and improve the environmental conditions of the creeks.

Want to Volunteer?

The program seeks Volunteers to conduct surveys on a weekly or biweekly basis, as well as on-call volunteers to provide backup support.

Click here to sign up and attend a training workshop on Sept. 26, 6-8 p.m. at Normandy Park City Hall.

Volunteers will spend 2-3 hours per survey, which must be conducted during daylight hours.

For those who want to see salmon without volunteering, check out the Salmon SEEson website to find a nearby location where salmon sightings are possible.
