The National Weather Service in Seattle on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024 issued a Wind Advisory overnight, warning of gusty south winds that could cause minor damage and power outages across the region.

Winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, between 8 p.m. – 4 a.m..

The advisory cautions residents that unsecured objects may be blown around, and tree limbs could fall, potentially resulting in localized power outages (oh no, not again!).

Motorists, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, are urged to use extra caution when driving during the advisory period.

Residents are also advised to secure outdoor items like patio furniture, decorations, and garbage bins to prevent them from being tossed by the wind.

The National Weather Service emphasized preparedness, noting that gusty winds can occur suddenly and impact travel and outdoor activities.

The advisory affects much of the Seattle metropolitan area, where residents are no strangers to strong winter winds that often accompany Pacific storm systems.
