The Highline Heritage Museum raised approximately $38,000 during its June 8, 2025 pirate-themed anniversary celebration and fundraiser, bringing together dozens of community organizations, sponsors, and volunteers to support local history, arts, education, and cultural programming.

Held at the Normandy Park Community Center (“The Cove”), the event featured costumed guests, a festive “Empty Yer Pockets, Landlubber!” fundraising campaign, and a spirited auction hosted by Larry Snyder, with items donated by several local organizations including the Burke Museum, Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Museum of Flight and many others.

Highline High Principal Clint Sallee gave a keynote address, focusing on the 100th anniversary of the school and its meaning to the community.

Live sea shanties were sung to attendees, many of whom were in pirate-themed costumes.

The museum said that funds raised will support field trips, exhibits, collections, and educational programming throughout the year.

“Your support makes all the difference,” organizers said in a message of thanks. “Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

More than 30 groups participated in the event, including Highline Public Schools, Port of Seattle, Explore Seattle Southside, the City of Burien, Highline College Foundation, Seafair, and many others.

Guests enjoyed a Dessert Dash, live auction, photo ops with costumed pirates, and even a sword fight demonstration by two costumed pirates.

The event’s Silver Sponsors included Port of Seattle, FastSigns, Explore Seattle Southside, Lakeside Advisors, and Seattle Credit Union. Bronze Sponsors included The B-Town Blog, Crain Photography, Skybridge Seattle Airport Hotel, Seafair, and several local businesses.
