Burien’s St. Francis of Assisi Church is holding a slideshow presentation called “Is War the Answer to Terrorism? An Alternative Strategy: Non-Violent Solutions in Afghanistan” by Photographer Julia Bolz on Friday, May 8th from 7pm-9pm at their Unity Hall.

INFO: Julia Bolz will show photos and share about her work in Afghanistan building and repairing schools. In 2002, Julia, a nationally-recognized speaker and social justice advocate, founded a project in Afghanistan called “Journey with an Afghan School.” Together with her American teammates, Julia has built and supplied 15 new schools and repaired 15 others destroyed by war. They also provide schools with clean water; textbooks and supplies; provide teacher trainings, libraries and computer centers; and facilitate cultural exchanges. Currently they serve over 25,000 Afghan students.
