Earlier this summer, the City of Burien discovered that the Town Square Park Water Fountain had sustained substantial water damage in the control vault and fountain’s electrical system, delaying its re-opening.
Kids of all ages were not too happy about this.
Most recently, the city hoped to re-open the popular summer water feature by today – Monday, July 15.
But now that’s has also been delayed.
“As repair work progresses, unforeseen issues have occurred,” the city said on Monday. “At this time, the City cannot commit to an open date.”
To appease overheated kids, the city will now activate park sprinklers in a section of Lake Burien School Memorial Park from 2–4 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays.:
“We know the fountain is beloved by the community, especially when the temperature rises.
“To help Burien’s youngest residents have fun and cool off on our summer’s hottest days, the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services department will turn on the sprinklers in Lake Burien Memorial Park.
“When the temperature reaches above 75 degrees, park sprinklers will be turned on in a section of Lake Burien Memorial Park from 2–4 p.m., Mondays and Fridays.”
Lake Burien School Memorial Park is located at 1620 SW 149th Street:
