Discover Burien is reporting that 38 of 40 Pride Flags installed throughout the city were stolen overnight.

The flags were put on display to commemorate Pride Month, done in conjunction with the City of Burien, City of Burien Economic Development, and Burien Public Works.

“It takes a great deal of time, effort and coordination to make Burien beautiful every day and we here at Discover Burien, in conjunction with City of Burien Government, City of Burien Economic Development, and Burien Public Works do it because it’s the right thing to do,” organizers said.

“What’s not right is when 38 of our 40 Pride flags are stolen overnight. Not only is it bad karma and poor decision-making, it’s also illegal. It’s stolen property. And that $2,000 in merchandise cannot be replaced. Discover Burien is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization guys. Bad karma.”

The non-profit business organization estimate the loss at around $2,000.

They are seeking any tips or surveillance video/photos to help identify the thief.

“If you know the whereabouts of these flags OR want to donate towards the Burien Pride event or replacement of Flags,” organizers said. “Please go to https://www.discoverburien.org/ All contact info is there, thank you.”
