A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday morning, Nov. 20, 2025 in Normandy Park, according to Police Chief Dan Yourkoski.
The collision happened at about 7:15 a.m. Thursday morning in the 17800 block of First Avenue South.
Yourkoski said the pedestrian was crossing from the westbound side to the eastbound side of the street when they were hit in the northbound lanes.
Fire crews attempted life saving measures, but sadly the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
No additional details were released.

This comment is about the pedestrian who was hit by a car and killed, this is not the first time this has happened. Why do we not have a CROSSWALK on 177th and 1st Ave. So many people cross there from The bus stop going south bound. It could help if the city would add a crosswalk. (Please forward to correct dept.)
Condolences to the family of the deceased.
I’m not sure Normandy Park has that big of budget.
So sad and preventable. Agree there needs to be a solution in place there. I would also advocate for a “do not block” or similar solution across the lanes so cars entering and exiting sw 178th street can turn left onto 1st during rush hours. Otherwise cars are setup for an accident as they have to take a blind chance lurch into the middle turn lane when cars are backed up at the lighted intersection further south. I’ve seen so many close calls on this and it’s a matter of time. Who would need to get this done, Normandy park, or burien?
Love you cousin we will miss you so much 🙁
So sorry for your loss
Normandy Pk police,
There has been an increase of excessive speed coming through Normandy park lately. I usest to see the presence of NP police patroling 1st ave coming through our park, but sadly this has come to a halt for some reason. We have (12) officers on staff but the where abouts lately is unknown from my perspective. Several days before this unfortunate accident I was thinking about complaining to city hall about the issue of reckless people speeding and aggressively tailgating through NP on 1st ave. I travel 1st ave going North and South though out the day via my work schedule. It has become very dangerous on 1st ave and with the new coming toll on 509 this will only increase
Exponentially, I’m hoping this unfortunate circumstance is a wake up call for all of us here in this beautiful Normandy Park. Please be patient curtious and respectful of our speed limits here in the Park, they keeps us all safe.
