On Thanksgiving morning, the community came together for the second annual Burien CARES “Shelter Dog Shuffle,” trading the usual turkey trot for wagging tails, happy barks, and joyful dog walks.
Volunteers of all ages gathered at the shelter in Burien, lending their time and energy to walk shelter dogs, offering them fresh air, friendly companionship, and a bright start to the holiday.
The result? Smiles and gratitude all around — from the dogs enjoying their strolls to the volunteers whose kindness turned the morning into something special. With every leash clipped and every paw hitting the pavement, we were reminded just how powerful community care can be (and how a few extra feet can turn into miles of joy for a pup in need).
“Thank you to everyone who joined today!” organizers said.

We were out walking our dog and saw all the volunteers! What a kind thing to do, if we could adopt we would but our dog was also a shelter dog and was never socialized. Great to see how happy the doga were. Thank you to all the volunteers!
I apologize in advance . Do all the dogs go to or get shuffled to same place? how does that work?
