A convicted felon was arrested and a firearm seized after Burien deputies responded to a theft at the Burien Walgreens store and located the suspect driving away in a U-Haul, according to the Burien Police Department.

Deputies were dispatched to the store after a reported larceny. When officers arrived, the suspect had already fled. A deputy searching the area found a U-Haul that matched the description provided by witnesses and detained a man nearby.

Witnesses were brought to the location and confirmed that the detained man was the individual involved in the theft, police said.

When the deputy asked whether he had any guns, the suspect responded, “Yes, in my pocket,” according to the department.

Police said the man is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms. The firearm recovered from his pocket was not stolen but was seized as evidence.

The suspect admitted to all charges, police said. He was booked into King County Jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, theft and possession of drugs.

Charges have been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.

  1. Here is the sad thing. He has probably already been released by a judge. Judges around here do not believe in punishment. They seem to think if they just say “No, no. Don’t do that” that the criminal will see the error of their ways.
