The City of Pacific is notifying residents ahead of a May 2 historical reenactment that will include scheduled loud noise from blank musket and cannon fire.
According to a City of Pacific community notice, the city’s 250 Celebration Committee will host “The Road to Rebellion” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 at the Community Center and Clint Steiger Park.
The notice says blank, non projectile musket fire is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by blank cannon fire at 3 p.m. The city said the demonstrations are controlled and that there is no danger to the public.
Event materials describe “Road to Rebellion” as a reenactment of the year 1776 designed to help attendees learn about the beginning of the Revolutionary War and better understand that period in history. Organizers said the event will feature speakers, demonstrations, and visual and interactive exhibits.
This event is free and open to the public.
Materials say attendees will have the chance to sign the Declaration of Independence and take part in activities that include musket and cannon demonstrations, children’s activities, crafts, city history, and colonial information provided by members of the Spirit of 76.
The city also warned that people in the area may hear loud, sudden noises during the demonstrations.
Questions can be directed to (253) 929-1130, according to the community notice.
