The annual Burien Garden Tour will return Saturday, May 30, offering visitors the chance to explore nine local gardens while supporting community beautification efforts.
According to Discover Burien, the self guided tour will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with tickets priced at $20 in advance.
Participants will begin the tour at the New Start Community Garden, also known as the Shark Garden, where they will pick up maps and badges by showing their ticket confirmation. The starting location will also feature plant sales and community organizations.
“On the tour, you’ll visit unique home and community gardens, meet local gardeners, and see how Burien grows – one yard, one block, one conversation at a time,” organizers said.
After visiting gardens across Burien, attendees will finish the tour at Huckleberry Gardens Nursery, where organizers say participants will receive a celebratory drink and have the opportunity to enter raffles and vote for their favorite garden.
Discover Burien said proceeds from ticket sales will support botanical beautification projects in downtown Burien.
The event is organized by community volunteers and is designed to connect neighbors, showcase local gardening ideas and celebrate Pride weekend.
Organizers noted that some gardens are not wheelchair accessible and that the tour map will include accessibility information. Pets and smoking are not allowed on the tour, except for service animals, and children under 12 are not permitted.
Tickets are limited, and organizers said volunteers who assist during the event will receive free admission for part of the day.
