Gardeners across Washington, including those in South King County, can now register for the 2026-27 Washington Green School program, a statewide educational initiative focused on research based and sustainable gardening practices.
According to information shared by Marie Kurka-Brown of the Master Gardener Foundation of King County, the program is returning for its second year and offers participants the opportunity to learn a wide range of gardening skills designed for Pacific Northwest growing conditions.
The Washington Green School curriculum covers topics including pest management and fire resistant landscaping, with instruction rooted in research based practices.
Gardeners can choose between two educational tracks: the Washington State University Extension Master Gardener program and the Washington Gardener certificate program.
According to organizers, the program is intended to help gardeners develop practical skills while promoting sustainable approaches to home and community gardening.
Registration is now open for the 2026-27 program year.
